Meitetsu Inuyama line

Meitetsu is a nick name of Nagoya Tetsudo.

The reason ‘Nagoya Tetsudo’ becomes ‘Meitetsu’, is because the kanji of ‘Nagoya Tetsudo’ is written as ‘名古屋鉄道’ and the shortened kanji is ‘名鉄’. The first kanji ‘名’ can be read in 2 variations ‘Na’ and also ‘Mei’, the second is ‘tetsu’. So the ‘Mei’ and ‘tetsu’ come together and become ‘Meitetsu’.

One line of Meitetsu is the Inuyama line.
