Omagari Station on the Akita Shinkansen Line is located in Daisen City, Akita Prefecture. Around the station, there are historical buildings and parks rich in nature, which attract many tourists.

First, Kakunodate Buke Yashiki, located about 20 minutes by car from Omagari Station, is a sightseeing spot where samurai residences from the Edo period have been preserved. Inside the building, daily utensils and weapons from that period are on display, giving visitors a sense of Japanese history. In addition, the Kakunodate Fireworks Festival is held in summer, and visitors can enjoy beautiful fireworks.

Ikeda Family Gardens (旧池田氏庭園)

The Former Ikeda Family Garden is a Japanese garden in Takanashi, Daisen City, Akita Prefecture, Japan, created in the late Meiji – Taisho period (1868-1912). It is the garden of the Ikeda family, an old family and landowner in the area.

The Ikeda family is said to be descended from Magozaemon Ikeda, a samurai who settled in the area from Settsu Province and returned to farming in the late Middle Ages and early Modern Period. He was a wealthy farmer who served as the chief farmer of Takanashi Village in the early modern period and as the head of the village until before World War II, and was one of the three largest landowners in the Tohoku region.

The former Ikeda family garden is located in the center of the Senboku Plain, surrounded by a vast countryside with the Ou Mountains to the east, Jinguji-dake to the west, and Chokai-san to the southwest. The vast site of approximately 42,000 square meters (12,700 tsubo) is shaped like a tortoise shell according to the Ikeda family crest, and is surrounded by moats and earthen mounds with stone walls. From the park, you can see the Omagari city area, the Omonogawa River, several bridges over the Omonogawa River, and the Ou Mountains.
