Fukushima Station (福島駅)

Fukushima Station is a major transportation hub in the Tohoku region and is also known as the starting point of the Tohoku Shinkansen Line. The area surrounding the station is attractive to tourists because of its many historical sights and spectacular natural scenery.

Around the station are the ruins of Fukushima Castle. It is one of the representative castle ruins in Fukushima Prefecture and is now maintained as a park. From the ruins of the castle, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Fukushima city area.

Fukushima Inari Shrine (福島稲荷神社)

Fukushima Inari Shrine is located in Miyamachi, Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture.

Fukushima Inari Shrine is the head shrine of the old castle town of Fukushima, and the former Fukushima-cho is the shrine’s Ujiko area. Corasse Fukushima is a complex facility located on the north side of the plaza in front of Fukushima Station West Exit. Centered on a glass atrium, it consists of a low-rise building that houses a multipurpose hall, a product center, and contact points for Fukushima Prefecture and Fukushima City, and a high-rise building that houses offices of commerce and industry organizations, prefectural government affiliated organizations, and private companies. The top floor has an observation lounge and restaurant. It also serves as a venue for events such as invention and ingenuity exhibitions, and flea markets and photo exhibitions are held on weekends. Hanamiyama Park (花見山公園)

Hanamiyama Park is the name of a private property owned by a flower and horticultural farmer in Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture. It is located on a hillside in the Watari district on the right bank of the Abukuma River, southeast of the city center. The owner opens the land to the public free of charge as a park, which attracts many tourists, especially during the spring flower viewing season.

When you stand on the valley-bottom plain where the village is located, you are surrounded by hills, including Tonjo-yama (Kasuga-yama) at the outlet of the Walnut River, and floriculture is practiced everywhere. In spring, plum blossoms, peaches, someiyoshino, lentillo, bokeh, sanshuyu, magnolia, and camellia bloom not only in the garden but also throughout the area. In addition to spring, the winter season is also the best time to view the Japanese buttercups.
