Sapporo, the central city of Hokkaido, is one of the largest cities in Japan, with diverse restaurants and shopping centers. The city also hosts the Sapporo Snow Festival in winter, when snow sculptures and illuminations add color to the city.

Hokkaido is said to have some of the most beautiful nature in Japan, with lush forests, spectacular natural scenery, clean air, and abundant wildlife. Mountain climbing and trekking are especially enjoyable in the mountainous regions, such as Asahidake (Mt. Asahi) and Yotei (Mt. Yotei).

Hokkaido is also a region rich in delicious food. Famous examples include seafood and jingisukan (Japanese mutton and vegetable dish). Fresh seafood and Jingisukan meat grown on vast ranches are just a few of the local delicacies that can be enjoyed.

Furthermore, there are many hot springs in Hokkaido, and in winter there are spots where visitors can enjoy open-air baths with a view of the snow. While enjoying the natural hot springs, visitors can enjoy the scenery of being at one with nature.

Hokkaido is a region rich in seasonal scenery, food, and nature. Tourists can experience nature, enjoy delicious food, relax in the hot springs, and enjoy all that Hokkaido has to offer.

Soya main Line

The Soya Main Line is a local train line located in the northernmost part of Hokkaido, connecting Wakkanai City and Cape Soya. The line is not suitable for sightseeing during the winter season due to heavy snowfall, but from spring through fall, the scenery along the beautiful coastline is very attractive. Wakkanai City also has Hokkaido’s largest fishing port and many restaurants serving fresh seafood. Cape Soya is home to Hokkaido’s northernmost lighthouse, offering magnificent views. Visitors can feel the wind blowing from the Arctic Circle as they travel to the far north.
