Bakkai Station (抜海駅)

Bakkai Station is a railway station of the Sōya Line, of JR Hokkaido. The area around Bakkai Station offers a beautiful coastline and scenic views.

First, there is the Kinkasan Observatory, located about a 20-minute drive from the station. From here, visitors can enjoy a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean. Also, in spring, the rows of cherry trees in the vicinity bloom beautifully, attracting many tourists.

Next is Cape Nukaimisaki, about a 15-minute walk from the station. From here, visitors can enjoy beautiful views of the rugged Pacific coastline and the surrounding mountains. There are also campgrounds and BBQ spaces in the area, so you can enjoy the area with your family and friends.

In addition, Ojika Falls is located about a 15-minute drive from the station. This place has been selected as one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan, and visitors can see a powerful waterfall with a drop of about 60 meters. A promenade is also maintained in the surrounding area, allowing visitors to enjoy a walk while getting in touch with nature.

The station is a unmanned station.

There are no restaurants around Bakkai station.

Tourist area

Close to the station, Bakkai Port is a place where you can see the wintering of Sesame seals. It will take approximately 30 minutes by foot to access the port from the station. There used to be a watch area, but recently the watch area is closed. Also, the maintenance and snow removing is not done, so you will need to take care when you walk around the port.
